Chapter One: Introduction

Religious conflicts are among the most pressing socio-political issues in Nigeria, often resulting in loss of life, displacement, and economic disruption. Jos North LGA, Plateau State, has witnessed recurring religious conflicts that underscore the need for responsible and ethical reporting. The media plays a crucial role in shaping public perceptions of such conflicts, influencing societal responses, and fostering peace or exacerbating tensions.
Reporting religious conflicts presents unique challenges, including the risk of bias, misinformation, and incitement. Journalists often face safety threats, ethical dilemmas, and societal pressure while covering sensitive issues.
